INGREDIENTS
- 1 ripe pear
- 1/2 cup coconut water
- 1/2 cup regular water
- 1/2 tsp of celtic sea salt
- 1/2 oz of honey
- 3/4 oz of pickle juice*
- rosemary sprig
METHOD - WITH BLENDER
- Slice 1 ripe pear into pieces and add to a wide glass or jar.
- Add coconut water, regular water, honey, sea salt, and pickle juice to the jar.
- Use an immersion blender to blend all the ingredients together. If you don't have an immersion blender, you can transfer your ingredients to any blender you have and use that. I just find the immersion blender easier to clean.
- Add back all ingredients to your serving glass over a fine mesh strainer, add ice, and stir well.**
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary and enjoy.
METHOD - WITHOUT BLENDER
If you don't have a blender, you can still make this drink.
- Slice 1 ripe pear into pieces and add to a wide glass or jar.
- Add honey and pickle juice to the same jar on top of the plums. Use a long flat-bottomed tool (such as a cocktail muddler) and mash together the ingredients until you get a jam-like consistency.
- Add the water, coconut water, and salt.
- Optional - If you don't like having pulp in your drink, you can strain the mixture through a mesh strainer to make it smooth.
- Add ice and stir well*
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary and enjoy.
NOTES
*Pickle juice may seem like an odd choice but it actually pairs beautifully with pear. I use dill pickle juice, but you can experiment with other kinds. You can sub the pickle juice for lemon juice if you prefer.
**I like shaking the drink in a closed mason jar or cocktail shaker to chill it and make it froth up. This makes it feel more decadent, but it is completely optional.
